The Shackleton Expedition

                  Adventures in Writing: 
                 Persuasive Writing Piece
Imagine that you are an explorer who wants to join Shackleton an his expedition to Antarctica.  Write a letter to Shackleton to persuade him to choose you to join him on his journey.  In your letter, write an introductory sentence that tells Shackleton why you want to go to Antarctica.  Then include at least three reasons you think you would be the best person to choose for this journey. 

Remember, a letter includes the date, a greeting, a body, and a closing.

Superhero Powers: A Descriptive Paragraph

Superhero Powers

Write a imaginative paragraph describing how you would defend yourself and save others if you had super powers.  Your paragraph should begin with a description of how your superhero body would help you survive an attack.  Tell at least three ways that it helps you avoid or defeat an attacker (maybe these are superpowers).  Use descriptive words that will help the reader make a mind movie.  Your paragraph will be posted on our class blog with your classmates descriptive paragraphs.
