Do you want to learn about Freak The Mighty tat slays dragons and walks high above the world? Well then read the book called Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. This story takes place in that city on summer vacation. The tow kids that come together to create Freak The Mighty are Kevin and Max. Max is about 7 feet tall and scarce every one. His strength and weaknesses are he is very strong, tall and scary. His weaknesses are that he is not the smartest person in the world. Freak on the other hand is like one of the smartest people in the world. Hs is about 3-4 feet tall but knows about every word and definition in the dictionary. Together kevin Max Freak the Mighty smart strong and brave.
Freak the Mighty is smart because of Kevin who is the brain of Freak the Mighty. He know every word and definition in the dictionary. Kevin and his brain are the reason Max and him got away from Tony.D and his gang “left Freak says, kicking (Max) right in the chest (34)”. This is how Freak the Mighty is smart!
Freak the Mighty is strong because of Max who is the legs and mussels of Freak the Mighty. Max scares people and can run fast, also not really scared of any thing for example: Tony.D was chasing Freak the Mighty with a knife and he just kept running. he always has Freak (Kevin) one his shoulders. The night forth of July Tony.D and his gang were chasing Max with Kevin in his shoulders and they go away from Tony.D. “Max picks up Kevin and runs(35)”.
Freak the Mighty shows that he is brave in many ways, for example, the night if the fire works Tony.D and his gang were chasing Freak the Mighty all around the pound “go right”(37)”, and Max kept running. Then Tony.D poled a knife and Max kept running not scared, and jumped into the pound. That shows how Freak the Mighty is brave, For he slayed dragons and walked high above the world.
Freak The Mighty do you know what the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is about? Well, I will tell you. It is about two boys in an urban community. Where you would see crime and hear about crime. Maxwell (mighty) the main character of this story who is seven feet tall. He can be very beastly and very dangerous if he had no choice but to fight. He is not smart. Then there is Kevin (Freak) move next door to max. Kevin can also be dangerous with his crutches. He is like super smart he know ten times more than his eighth grade teacher. He gets on Maxwells shoulder and what ever side Kevin kicks is the direction he will run or walk. Kevin has a birth defect in his legs. Max and Kevin are different in many ways. One way Max and Kevin are different is because Kevin is really smart and Max is learning disabled. I know max is in an L.D. class room because max was in an L.D. class room before Kevin moved in next door. I know Kevin is really smart because in the book it says he is ten times smart than his eighth grade teacher. Kevin’s teacher mrs. Donelli pointed out how smart he was when she said, “Kevin, we know you know the answer, because you always know the answer, so wouldn’t it be nice if you gave someone else a chance? For instance, your friend Maxwell(page 80)?” this is one way I know Kevin and Max are different. Max and Kevin are also different because max is huge and Kevin is tiny. I know this because in the book Max runs around all day nonstop for hours with kevin on his shoulders and his back will not hurt and does not get tired, so Kevin has to be tiny. I also know this because in the book Max had said to Kevin, “You look so tiny you look like a toddler.” I also know that Kevin is tiny is because in the book that when kevin is on his shoulders they are nine feet tall and Kevin only adds two feet on Maxwell’s height, so if you subtract two feet from nine feet you product will be Maxwell’s height (seven feet tall at the age of 13 or 14). I also know that max is huge is because in the book it says that Grim brought Max school shopping and he went to buy school shoes he needed a pair of XXL (extra extra large) sneakers. “We are nine feet tall, incase you haven’t notice, and we walk hi above the world.” By, Aaron B.
Max shows he is strong in many ways. One way Max shows he is strong is when Tony D and his gang where chasing him and Freak. Max put Freak on his shoulders and started running really fast. Another way Max shows he is strong is during the fireworks when Max lifts Freak on his shoulders so he can see. The last reason why Max is strong is when Freak and Max are in Mrs.Donelli’s class and Max put Freak on his shoulders. Max describes himself as “ Standing there with Freak high above me and it feels right it makes me feel strong and smart(77-78).”
Max is also brave.For example we can see this when Freak wants Max to go in the sewer drain to look for treasure. Max decides to go down in the sewer drain. “ Freak says the treasure is hidden in a storm drain.This has been comfirmed by visuails observation(56).” Stated Freak. This shows that they are brave because they are going in the sewer drain when it is really dark. Also in the sewer drain there are dead rats and mice. Another example that supports that Max is brave is when Max is called into the principles office. “ I’m already so worried about being called in alone(82-83).” Even though Max was worried, he went anyways.
Max is also dumb. For example, before Freak moved down the road Max didn’t have much of a brain. “I’ve never had a brain until Freak moved down the road(1).” Another way Max shows he’s dumb is when he was in preshool and he use to beat up kids. “Except I had a way of saying things with my fist and my feet even before we became Freak The Mighty(1).”

Freak and Max In the story Freak the Mighty I would give the author Rodman Phillbrick an A+ in his use of imagery .For example on pages 34-40 When Tony-D and his goons where chasing Max and Kevin around the park on the night of the Fireworks, I felt like i was standing there watching it happen. I used this particular part of the story because it amazed me that the author could put so much detain in such a small part of the story. Another reason I gave the author an A+ on his use of imagery because of all the detail he uses to tell a story. For example On pages 98-99 when maxi’s father kidnaps him I think I think I was about as scared as the author made it seem like max was. When Max said “I think iI hear the wind right there in my room except it’s not the wind its some ones breathing.” WOW my heart still stops just to think about it. The last reason I gave the author Rodman Phillbrick an A+ on his use of imagery is because I think it is great that he makes it seem like the characters in the book are talking directly to you. For example on pages 133-134 When max runs out of the basement with Kevin on his shoulders and crashes through the wooden door landing in the snow and Iggy grabs hold of his shoulder and says “Take it easy kid you’re gonna be okay.

Freak the mighty is a powerful person for many reasons. One way Freak the mighty show shows he is powerful is when he picked Kevin up at the fair and “out ran Tony d and is punk’s (36).” Another reason freak the mighty is a powerful person is when he is getting kicked by Kevin at the fair so he would know where to go and he jumped really far into a pond. You need to read proof read your own work and look for grammatical and spelling errors: there are quite a few of them. Also, I feel that the examples you used to support your details and thesis could be better. Please go back to the text and find better examples to embed in your writing.

I bet you are wondering what Freak The Mighty is about . Freak The Mighty is written by Rodman Philbrick. The setting is an urban city that two boys Max and Kevin live in. In that city you would see people outside and you would also see houses. You would hear people talking and. Max the main character is nice to his only friend Kevin. Max is large, fast, strong and growing. Kevin’s is short, imaginative, smart, intelligent and nice. Max and Kevin have many strengths. Max and Kevin are similar in many ways. One way kevin and Max are similar is that they are both brave. For example Kevin shows he does not fear of his upcoming surgeries. “‘Bionics freak says. ‘thats the science of designing replacement parts for the human body(52).” Here Kevin shows he is not scared at all when Max was asking a bunch of questions. They are also brave because they stand up to Tony D. “I can see blade rearing back to throw and at first he misses us. ‘can you move Freak says’(38).” Another similarity Kevin and Max have is that they are both imaginative. Kevin and Max made up freak the mighty and they slay dragons and pretend that a tiny sidewalk is a wobbly bridge over a huge pit. They also pretend they walk high above the world. “But Freak is riding me like he’s the jockey and I’m the horse, he’s steering me around the classroom showing off(78).” “It’s not the same,though, without Freak alongto turn the houses into castles and the swimming pools into moats. The last way Max and Kevin are the same is that they are both disabled in one way. Max is learning disabled. “Your putting me back in L.D right(84).” Here Max is asking if he can go back in L.D class. Kevin’s disability on the other hand is that he is short and crippled. For example, “Anyhow the little Freak is tugging it backwards a few inches at a time chugging along until he gets the little wagon under the tree(11-12).” This shows Freak is short and cant reach stuff very well.

FREAK THE MIGHTY Do you want to here about this book with a tall guy and a nerd? Then read freak the mighty by Rodman Philbrick. It takes place in a sunny summer in the city. You will see houses and apartments. You will hear car horns and people talking. I am going to tell you about Max. Max is very very tough and he is dumb and brave. Max is tough in many ways. One way Max shows he is tough is because he can lift kevin up over his head at the fire works so Kevin could see the fire works. Also because he could run really really fast when Tony D was trying to get them. Also when they were at the fireworks “ kevin was screaming out all kinds of words that he doesn’t even know.”(3132 33) Max shows he is dumb in many ways. One way he is dumb is because he is put in the L.D. class. L.D. means learning disable. Another reason is because when him and Kevin went back to school after summer he was put in all the smart classes with Kevin. Then the principal wanted him to go down to the office and he said “I don’t want to be put back in the L.D. class(83 ).” Max shows he is brave. One way he shows he is brave is when they were at the fireworks Max just picked kevin up and put him on his shoulder He is brave there because he never told kevin that he was going to pick him up on his shoulders.

I am responding to Mahlik's entry. Overall great work. An area you need to improve is when writing "Freak the Mighty" all beginning letters need to be capitalized: you did not do this. Another thing you can do to improve is use specific quotes and examples from the text to show how the character is imaginative...this last paragraph is weak in comparison to the others.

The author is Roman Philbrick. The story takes place in the summer out in a city. You will see of houses and cars and bird. You will hear a lot of cars birds and people talking. The character I will be writing about is Kevin who is imaginary and smart.
Kevin shows he has a great imagination in many ways. One way kevin has a great imagination is when he pretend that he is on a lot of quest. For example, one quest is rescuing “The Damsel In Distress(83).” The Damsel In Distress is a quest when Max and Kevin have to go Loretta lee’s house to give back her bag. Rescuing The Damsel Of Distress. They had to roll in dirt, dress in black and they had to leave at night for no one would see them. Another quest is “ The Storm Drain(56).” The Storm Drain is a treasure hurt type of quest. “The Storm Drain is in the sewer(55).” They have to leave at night so no one would see them and tell on them or if so no one will follow them.
Kevin has a great bran which means he is smart. Kevin is smart because he knows every word in the in the dictionary. Like when Max and Kevin was sent to the principal office together “Kevin used so many big words(79).” Than the teacher said “Kevin we know you know the answer you always know the answer(80).” After the teacher said “ Yes Kevin you’re correct because you’re always correct(80).” So that is how I think Kevin is smart.
Kevin is helpful when he tells the cops we are freak the mighty when the cops side “okay, boys, you better tell us your names and we’ll call your mothers(39).” Than Kevin yells out we’re freak the mighty, that who we are. We’re nine feet tall in case you haven’t noticed(40).”
I am reading a book just like freak the mighty. I think my book A Journey To The New World, is just like Freak The Mighty by: In freak the mighty freak (Kevin) died and in a journey to the new world will died. Than max was very sad because his best friend died and kevin was not just his best friend he was the bran and he was part of Freak The Mighty and Mem was very sad because will was her best friend and Mem know every thing there is to know about him (will). That is how I think that Freak The Mighty and A Journey To The World is just like each of.

Freak The Mighty is a powerful person for many reasons. One way Freak The Mighty show shows he is powerful is when he picked Kevin up at the fair and “out ran Tony d and is punk’s (36).” Another reason freak the mighty is a powerful person is when he is getting kicked by Kevin at the fair so he would know where to go and he jumped really far into a pond. They “slay dragons and fools and walk high above the world (40)”
Freak The Mighty is smart in many ways. One way freak the mighty is smart is because they thought of a plan in a Nano second. “The mighty hisses and then freak kicks the mighty on his right shoulder turns that way” (36 ).” That was Freak The Mighty’ plan. Another Freak The Mighty is smart is because they know what to do when they are getting chased like jumping into a pond. Freak is kicking the mighty so he could steer him (35).”
Freak Te Mighty is imaginative in many ways. One way Freak The Mighty is imaginative is when Freak sadist night they'll take me in for the special operation. Hi all you people do you want to learn about a 7 foot tall kid that can carry a 2 foot tall kid on his shoulders? If you do read this passage. Freak the Mighty is written by Rodman Philbrick. The setting is in a urban city with lots of people and houses. Also there’s lots of tall buildings and street lights every were you look. I am going to tell you about one of the main characters. His name is Max. Max is 7 feet tall and very strong. He also has L.D L.D means learning disabled. Learning disabled means it is hard for him to learn. If I was going to give the author a grade on his use of imagery I would give him an a for many reasons.
One reason I would give the author an A on his use of imagery is because he uses sights and sounds to make me feel like I’m in the story there. For example he uses imagery when Freak and Max are at the fire works and Max is saying “At the end, like always, they have a thing they call the ‘grand finale,’ when they just go nuts and light off everything at once and it sound like world war three, whizzing and banging and popping, and there’s so much hot stuff falling from the sky you can hear it sizzling in the pond (pg.33).” This shows that the author uses good sights and sounds.
Another reason I would give the author an A on his use of imagery is because he uses words that describe the scene and it creates a mind move for the reader. For example, when Max’s dad kidnaps Max and brings him to the new testaments Max says, “We’re coming up to the testaments and they look almost pretty with the new snow coating the roof and making the yards clean and white and soft (pg. 105).” This shows that the author describes the scene and gives the readers mind movies.
The last reason I would give the author an A on his use of imagery is because his details make me feel like the book comes alive. Here’s an example of the author making the book come alive. “Then we’re inside, and Iggy is there bolting the door behind us and closing the shades, and Loretta, she’s wearing this real slinky red dress that looks like it might fall off if she sneezed, she’s saying, ‘Mission accomplished, hey Kenny ... I new you could do it, if any body could (pg. 105).’” This show’s that the author uses good details to make it feel like the book comes alive because I can see Iggy bolting the door shut and closing the shades.

Another book that I would give an A+ on the authors use of imagery would be the story called Angela and Salem written by Martha .d. Greywond. In this book Angela is a witch and her black cat Salem has to be very brave and stand up to the magic thief to save Angeles powers or loose his home, friends, and family forever. In this story I would also give the Author an A+ on her use of imagery. I would give her an A+ because she made all her words and or actions through the characters become visuals in my head.Also her choice of wording makes it seem like you are watching a great movie instead of reading a boring book that you have got to read or else. Another reason I gave this author an A+ on his use of imagery is because when she talks about something suspenseful happening or a intense part of the story she really zooms in on a small part of the story and makes it more exciting. Another reason I would give the author an A+ on her use of imagery is because in the middle part of the story salem saved Angela from the monster wizard that lost his powers when he used them incorrectly and he tried to take Angela’s powers. His strength and weaknesses are he is very strong, tall and scary. His weaknesses are that he is not the smartest person in the world. Freak on the other hand is like one of the smartest people in the world. Hs is about 3-4 feet tall but knows about every word and definition in the dictionary. Together kevin Max Freak the Mighty smart strong and brave.
Freak the Mighty is smart because of Kevin who is the brain of Freak the Mighty. He know every word and definition in the dictionary. Kevin and his brain are the reason Max and him got away from Tony.D and his gang “left Freak says, kicking (Max) right in the chest (34)”. This is how Freak the Mighty is smart!
Freak the Mighty is strong because of Max who is the legs and mussels of Freak the Mighty. Max scares people and can run fast, also not really scared of any thing for example: Tony.D was chasing Freak the Mighty with a knife and he just kept running. he always has Freak (Kevin) one his shoulders. The night forth of July Tony.D and his gang were chasing Max with Kevin in his shoulders and they go away from Tony.D. “Max picks up Kevin and runs(35)”.
Freak the Mighty shows that he is brave in many ways, for example, the night if the fire works Tony.D and his gang were chasing Freak the Mighty all around the pound “go right”(37)”, and Max kept running. Then Tony.D poled a knife and Max kept running not scared, and jumped into the pound. That shows how Freak the Mighty is brave, For he slayed dragons and walked high above the world.

ReplyDeletedo you know what the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is about? Well, I will tell you. It is about two boys in an urban community. Where you would see crime and hear about crime. Maxwell (mighty) the main character of this story who is seven feet tall. He can be very beastly and very dangerous if he had no choice but to fight. He is not smart. Then there is Kevin (Freak) move next door to max. Kevin can also be dangerous with his crutches. He is like super smart he know ten times more than his eighth grade teacher. He gets on Maxwells shoulder and what ever side Kevin kicks is the direction he will run or walk. Kevin has a birth defect in his legs.
Max and Kevin are different in many ways.
One way Max and Kevin are different is because Kevin is really smart and Max is learning disabled. I know max is in an L.D. class room because max was in an L.D. class room before Kevin moved in next door. I know Kevin is really smart because in the book it says he is ten times smart than his eighth grade teacher. Kevin’s teacher mrs. Donelli pointed out how smart he was when she said, “Kevin, we know you know the answer, because you always know the answer, so wouldn’t it be nice if you gave someone else a chance? For instance, your friend Maxwell(page 80)?” this is one way I know Kevin and Max are different.
Max and Kevin are also different because max is huge and Kevin is tiny. I know this because in the book Max runs around all day nonstop for hours with kevin on his shoulders and his back will not hurt and does not get tired, so Kevin has to be tiny. I also know this because in the book Max had said to Kevin, “You look so tiny you look like a toddler.” I also know that Kevin is tiny is because in the book that when kevin is on his shoulders they are nine feet tall and Kevin only adds two feet on Maxwell’s height, so if you subtract two feet from nine feet you product will be Maxwell’s height (seven feet tall at the age of 13 or 14). I also know that max is huge is because in the book it says that Grim brought Max school shopping and he went to buy school shoes he needed a pair of XXL (extra extra large) sneakers. “We are nine feet tall, incase you haven’t notice, and we walk hi above the world.”

ReplyDeleteMax shows he is strong in many ways. One way Max shows he is strong is when Tony D and his gang where chasing him and Freak. Max put Freak on his shoulders and started running really fast. Another way Max shows he is strong is during the fireworks when Max lifts Freak on his shoulders so he can see. The last reason why Max is strong is when Freak and Max are in Mrs.Donelli’s class and Max put Freak on his shoulders. Max describes himself as “ Standing there with Freak high above me and it feels right it makes me feel strong and smart(77-78).”
Max is also brave.For example we can see this when Freak wants Max to go in the sewer drain to look for treasure. Max decides to go down in the sewer drain. “ Freak says the treasure is hidden in a storm drain.This has been comfirmed by visuails observation(56).” Stated Freak. This shows that they are brave because they are going in the sewer drain when it is really dark. Also in the sewer drain there are dead rats and mice. Another example that supports that Max is brave is when Max is called into the principles office. “ I’m already so worried about being called in alone(82-83).” Even though Max was worried, he went anyways.
Max is also dumb. For example, before Freak moved down the road Max didn’t have much of a brain. “I’ve never had a brain until Freak moved down the road(1).” Another way Max shows he’s dumb is when he was in preshool and he use to beat up kids. “Except I had a way of saying things with my fist and my feet even before we became Freak The Mighty(1).”

ReplyDeleteIn the story Freak the Mighty I would give the author Rodman Phillbrick an A+ in his use of imagery .For example on pages 34-40 When Tony-D and his goons where chasing Max and Kevin around the park on the night of the Fireworks, I felt like i was standing there watching it happen. I used this particular part of the story because it amazed me that the author could put so much detain in such a small part of the story.
Another reason I gave the author an A+ on his use of imagery because of all the detail he uses to tell a story. For example On pages 98-99 when maxi’s father kidnaps him I think I think I was about as scared as the author made it seem like max was. When Max said “I think iI hear the wind right there in my room except it’s not the wind its some ones breathing.” WOW my heart still stops just to think about it.
The last reason I gave the author Rodman Phillbrick an A+ on his use of imagery is because I think it is great that he makes it seem like the characters in the book are talking directly to you. For example on pages 133-134 When max runs out of the basement with Kevin on his shoulders and crashes through the wooden door landing in the snow and Iggy grabs hold of his shoulder and says “Take it easy kid you’re gonna be okay.

Kevin and Mighty
ReplyDeleteI bet you are wondering what Freak The Mighty is about . Freak The Mighty is written by Rodman Philbrick. The setting is an urban city that two boys Max and Kevin live in. In that city you would see people outside and you would also see houses. You would hear people talking and. Max the main character is nice to his only friend Kevin. Max is large, fast, strong and growing. Kevin’s is short, imaginative, smart, intelligent and nice. Max and Kevin have many strengths.
Max and Kevin are similar in many ways. One way kevin and Max are similar is that they are both brave. For example Kevin shows he does not fear of his upcoming surgeries. “‘Bionics freak says. ‘thats the science of designing replacement parts for the human body(52).” Here Kevin shows he is not scared at all when Max was asking a bunch of questions. They are also brave because they stand up to Tony D. “I can see blade rearing back to throw and at first he misses us. ‘can you move Freak says’(38).”
Another similarity Kevin and Max have is that they are both imaginative. Kevin and Max made up freak the mighty and they slay dragons and pretend that a tiny sidewalk is a wobbly bridge over a huge pit. They also pretend they walk high above the world. “But Freak is riding me like he’s the jockey and I’m the horse, he’s steering me around the classroom showing off(78).” “It’s not the same,though, without Freak alongto turn the houses into castles and the swimming pools into moats.
The last way Max and Kevin are the same is that they are both disabled in one way. Max is learning disabled. “Your putting me back in L.D right(84).” Here Max is asking if he can go back in L.D class. Kevin’s disability on the other hand is that he is short and crippled. For example, “Anyhow the little Freak is tugging it backwards a few inches at a time chugging along until he gets the little wagon under the tree(11-12).” This shows Freak is short and cant reach stuff very well.

ReplyDeleteDo you want to here about this book with a tall guy and a nerd? Then read freak the mighty by Rodman Philbrick. It takes place in a sunny summer in the city. You will see houses and apartments. You will hear car horns and people talking. I am going to tell you about Max. Max is very very tough and he is dumb and brave.
Max is tough in many ways. One way Max shows he is tough is because he can lift kevin up over his head at the fire works so Kevin could see the fire works. Also because he could run really really fast when Tony D was trying to get them. Also when they were at the fireworks “ kevin was screaming out all kinds of words that he doesn’t even know.”(3132 33) Max shows he is dumb in many ways. One way he is dumb is
because he is put in the L.D. class. L.D. means learning disable. Another reason is because when him and Kevin went back to school after summer he was put in all the smart classes with Kevin. Then the principal wanted him to go down to the office and he said “I don’t want to be put back in the L.D. class(83 ).”
Max shows he is brave. One way he shows he is brave is when they were at the fireworks Max just picked kevin up and put him on his shoulder
He is brave there because he never told kevin that he was going to pick him up on his shoulders.

Freak The Mighty
ReplyDeleteDo you know what the book Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick is about? Well, I will tell you. It is about two boys in an urban community. Where you would see crime and hear about crime. Maxwell (mighty) the main character of this story who is seven feet tall. He can be very beastly and very dangerous if he had no choice but to fight. He is not smart. Then there is Kevin (Freak) who has moved next door to Max. Kevin can also be dangerous with his crutches. He is like super smart he knows ten times more than his eighth grade teacher. He gets on Maxwell's shoulder and what ever side Kevin kicks is the direction he will run or walk. Kevin has a birth defect in his legs.
Max and Kevin are different in many ways.
One way Max and Kevin are different is because Kevin is really smart and Max is learning disabled. I know max is in an L.D. class room because max was in an L.D. class room before Kevin moved in next door. I know Kevin is really smart because in the book it says he is ten times smart than his eighth grade teacher. Kevin’s teacher Mrs. Donelli pointed out how smart he was when she said, “Kevin, we know you know the answer, because you always know the answer, so wouldn’t it be nice if you gave someone else a chance? For instance, your friend Maxwell(page 80)?” this is one way I know Kevin and Max are different.
Max and Kevin are also different because max is huge and Kevin is tiny. I know this because in the book Max runs around all day nonstop for hours with kevin on his shoulders and his back will not hurt and does not get tired, so Kevin has to be tiny. I also know this because in the book Max had said to Kevin, “You look so tiny you look like a toddler.” I also know that Kevin is tiny is because in the book that when kevin is on his shoulders they are nine feet tall and Kevin only adds two feet on Maxwell’s height, so if you subtract two feet from nine feet you product will be Maxwell’s height (seven feet tall at the age of 13 or 14). I also know that max is huge is because in the book it says that Grim brought Max school shopping and he went to buy school shoes he needed a pair of XXL (extra extra large) sneakers. “We are nine feet tall, incase you haven’t notice, and we walk high above the world.”
Max is brave because he fought with his father, “Killer Kane,” and Iggy is a very big and strong man in a big and fearsome biker gang that strike fear into police and citizens and He wouldn’t dare or even think of fighting with Killer Kane. Kevin is smart because it said in the book that when Kevin was seven years old Dr. Spinivac say to max that he was going to get new bionic parts for kevin so he could walk and so he could be taller and so he can grow and Kevin said your lying to me and he was right Dr. Spinivac was lying to him thats how smart he was he knew there was no such thing or he would have read about it if it did existed. Thats how I know that max is brave and Kevin is super smart.

Do you want to learn about the book called Freak the mighty? Well if you do than read on and you will find all of the information about this book. The title of the book is Freak the mighty. The author is Roman Philbrick. The story takes place in the summer out in a city. You will see of houses and cars and bird. You will hear a lot of cars birds and people talking. The character I will be writing about is kevin who is imaginary and smart.
Kevin shows he has a great imagination in many ways. One way kevin has a great imagination is when he pretend that he is on a lot of quest. For example, one quest is rescuing “The Damsel In Distress(83).” The Damsel In Distress is a quest when Max and Kevin have to go loretta lee’s house to give back her bag. Rescuing The Damsel Of Distress. They had to roll in dirt, dress in black and they had to leave at night for no one would see them. Another quest is “ The Storm Drain(56).” The Storm Drain is a treasure hurt type of quest. “The Storm Drain is in the sewer(55).” They have to leave at night so no one would see them and tell on them or if so no one will follow them.
Kevin has a great brian which means he is smart. Kevin is smart because he knows every word in the in the dictionary. Like when Max and Kevin was sent to the principal office together “Kevin used so many big words(79).” Than the teacher said “Kevin we know you know the answer you always know the answer(80).” After the teacher said “ Yes Kevin you’re correct because you’re always correct(80).” So that is how I think Kevin is smart.
Kevin is helpful when he tells the cops we are freak the mighty when the cops side “okay, boys, you better tell us your names and we’ll call your mothers(39).” Than kevin yells out we’re freak the mighty, that who we are. We’re nine feet tall in case you haven’t noticed(40).” Kevin is helpful when he helps max in school. Kevin is also helpful always to max.
I am responding to Mahlik's entry. Overall great work. An area you need to improve is when writing "Freak the Mighty" all beginning letters need to be capitalized: you did not do this. Another thing you can do to improve is use specific quotes and examples from the text to show how the character is imaginative...this last paragraph is weak in comparison to the others.

Mighty Maxwell
ReplyDeleteMax shows he is strong in many ways. One way Max shows he is strong is when Tony D and his gang where chasing him and Freak. Max put Freak on his shoulders and started running really fast. Another way Max shows he is strong is during the fireworks when Max lifts Freak on his shoulders so he can see. The last reason why Max is strong is when Freak and Max are in Mrs.Donelli’s class and Max put Freak on his shoulders. Max describes himself as “ Standing there with Freak high above me and it feels right it makes me feel strong and smart(77-78).”
Max is also brave. For example we can see this when Freak wants Max to go in the sewer drain to look for treasure. Max decides to go down in the sewer drain. “ Freak says the treasure is hidden in a storm drain. This has been confirmed by visuals observation(56).” Stated Freak. This shows that they are brave because they are going in the sewer drain when it is really dark. Also in the sewer drain there are dead rats and mice. Another example that supports that Max is brave is when Max is called into the principles office. “ I’m already so worried about being called in alone(82-83).” Even though Max was worried, he went anyways.
Max is also dumb. For example, before Freak moved down the road Max didn’t have much of a brain. “I’ve never had a brain until Freak moved down the road(1).” Another way Max shows he’s dumb is when he was in preschool and he use to beat up kids. “Except I had a way of saying things with my fist and my feet even before we became Freak The Mighty(1).” Also Max is dumb because when he was i the hospital with Freak he said quote (page 151) “But you know I can’t write, Kevin.” Freak says “ It’s all n your head, Max, everything you can remember.”

I am reading a book just like freak the mighty. I think my book A Journey To The New World, is just like Freak The Mighty by: In freak the mighty freak (Kevin) died and in a journey to the new world will died. Than max was very sad because his best friend died and kevin was not just his best friend he was the bran and he was part of Freak The Mighty and Mem was very sad because will was her best friend and Mem know every thing there is to know about him (will). That is how I think that Freak The Mighty and A Journey To The World is just like each of.

Freak Te Mighty
Do you want to learn about Freak The Mighty slaying dragons and fools and walking high above the world? If you do read on. I am reading the book Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. This takes place in a urban town during the summer. It is a busy town with babies crying, dogs barking, people talking, and fast cars driving by. Freak The Mighty is composed of two people Max and Kevin who put their strengths together to make one person. Freak The Mighty is powerful, brave, and imaginative.
Freak The Mighty is a powerful person for many reasons. One way Freak The Mighty show shows he is powerful is when he picked Kevin up at the fair and “out ran Tony d and is punk’s (36).” Another reason freak the mighty is a powerful person is when he is getting kicked by Kevin at the fair so he would know where to go and he jumped really far into a pond. They “slay dragons and fools and walk high above the world (40)”
Freak The Mighty is smart in many ways. One way freak the mighty is smart is because they thought of a plan in a Nano second. “The mighty hisses and then freak kicks the mighty on his right shoulder turns that way” (36 ).” That was Freak The Mighty’ plan. Another Freak The Mighty is smart is because they know what to do when they are getting chased like jumping into a pond. Freak is kicking the mighty so he could steer him (35).”
Freak Te Mighty is imaginative in many ways. One way Freak The Mighty is imaginative is when Freak sadist night they'll take me in for the special operation. That is when Kevin used his imagination to create robotic legs. Another way Freak The Mighty is imaginative when they went on the storm drain quest and Freak dressed up like Darth Vader.

Max the Awesome
Hi all you people do you want to learn about a 7 foot tall kid that can carry a 2 foot tall kid on his shoulders? If you do read this passage. Freak the Mighty is written by Rodman Philbrick. The setting is in a urban city with lots of people and houses. Also there’s lots of tall buildings and street lights every were you look. I am going to tell you about one of the main characters. His name is Max. Max is 7 feet tall and very strong. He also has L.D L.D means learning disabled. Learning disabled means it is hard for him to learn. If I was going to give the author a grade on his use of imagery I would give him an a for many reasons.
One reason I would give the author an A on his use of imagery is because he uses sights and sounds to make me feel like I’m in the story there. For example he uses imagery when Freak and Max are at the fire works and Max is saying “At the end, like always, they have a thing they call the ‘grand finale,’ when they just go nuts and light off everything at once and it sound like world war three, whizzing and banging and popping, and there’s so much hot stuff falling from the sky you can hear it sizzling in the pond (pg.33).” This shows that the author uses good sights and sounds.
Another reason I would give the author an A on his use of imagery is because he uses words that describe the scene and it creates a mind move for the reader. For example, when Max’s dad kidnaps Max and brings him to the new testaments Max says, “We’re coming up to the testaments and they look almost pretty with the new snow coating the roof and making the yards clean and white and soft (pg. 105).” This shows that the author describes the scene and gives the readers mind movies.
The last reason I would give the author an A on his use of imagery is because his details make me feel like the book comes alive. Here’s an example of the author making the book come alive. “Then we’re inside, and Iggy is there bolting the door behind us and closing the shades, and Loretta, she’s wearing this real slinky red dress that looks like it might fall off if she sneezed, she’s saying, ‘Mission accomplished, hey Kenny ... I new you could do it, if any body could (pg. 105).’” This show’s that the author uses good details to make it feel like the book comes alive because I can see Iggy bolting the door shut and closing the shades.

ReplyDeleteDo you want to here about this book with a tall guy and a nerd? Then read Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick. It takes place during a sunny summer in the city. You will see houses and apartments. You will hear car horns and people talking. I am going to tell you about Max. Max is tough,dumb and brave.
Max is tough in many ways. One way Max shows he is tough is because he can lift kevin up over his head at the fire works he did this so Kevin could see the fire works. Max shows he is tough because he could run really really fast when Tony D was trying to get them.
One way he is dumb is because he is put in the L.D. class. L.D. means learning disable. Another reason is because when him and Kevin went back to school after summer he was put in all the smart classes with Kevin. Then the principal wanted him to go down to the office and he said “I don’t want to be put back in the L.D. class(83 ).’’When they were at the fireworks ‘‘Kevin was screaming out all kinds of words that he doesn’t even know(page 31 32 33).’’
Max shows he is brave in many ways. one way he is brave is when his dad was kidnapping Max. He is brave because he never said anything because he didn’t want anything to happen to Grim or Gram(130).’’He is also brave because he went where his father went and he never knew where they were going.

ReplyDeleteI think that you did a good job on working hard because you were on task. I think you can improve on watching what you write because you said Kevin was screaming out all kinds of word that he doesn’t even know but he does know what they mean.
Another book that I would give an A+ on the authors use of imagery would be the story called Angela and Salem written by Martha .d. Greywond. In this book Angela is a witch and her black cat Salem has to be very brave and stand up to the magic thief to save Angeles powers or loose his home, friends, and family forever. In this story I would also give the Author an A+ on her use of imagery. I would give her an A+ because she made all her words and or actions through the characters become visuals in my head.Also her choice of wording makes it seem like you are watching a great movie instead of reading a boring book that you have got to read or else. Another reason I gave this author an A+ on his use of imagery is because when she talks about something suspenseful happening or a intense part of the story she really zooms in on a small part of the story and makes it more exciting. Another reason I would give the author an A+ on her use of imagery
ReplyDeleteis because in the middle part of the story salem saved Angela from the monster wizard that lost his powers when he used them incorrectly and he tried to take Angela’s powers. And she made it feel like you where really one of the characters that was in the book. That is why i would give this author an A+ on her use of imagery. bye keanna
why do they call kevin bossy
ReplyDeleteThey call Kevin " bossy " because he is so smart, he tells people how it's supposed to be done. Being 'bossy".
