Persuasive Writing Piece
Imagine that you are an explorer who wants to join Shackleton an his expedition to Antarctica. Write a letter to Shackleton to persuade him to choose you to join him on his journey. In your letter, write an introductory sentence that tells Shackleton why you want to go to Antarctica. Then include at least three reasons you think you would be the best person to choose for this journey.
Remember, a letter includes the date, a greeting, a body, and a closing.

I am a skilled mechanic. I'm skilled on boats because I work well with them. I can take apart a boat and put it back together in 30 minutes. I can steer a boat better than any one I know.
I am also a skilled boater. I have a Yelcho and if you need one I have one. I’m good at using a sextant to navigate .
Also , I’m really strong. I can lift up a heavy gun and shoot the target. I can lift up the heavy animal because I’m healthy.

My name is Taylor. I would love to be the first girl to travel across Antarctica by foot. You should choose me because I am smart, brave, and strong. I could be a navigator and figure out the best course for the Endurance go on.
I am smart because I can problem solve. I could fix any problem that you would need me to fix, like a whole in the boat. Also, I am smart because I could know where we are going and help if anyone needs it. I would be a good navigator because I am an excellent person at what way we would need to go. I am really good at using a compass.
I am very brave. I could help people go across Antarctica. Also I am not afraid to go find food at night. Also, I could go and do something in the midst of the night.

ReplyDeleteI Aaron wants to go to go to Antarctica with you because I love adventure and I think I would be really useful to you and the rest of the crew. I have allot of knowledge about survival and measurement. I am also a strong man and a skilled woodworker. I am knowledgeable in survival because I watch man vs wild. man vs wild is a show on TV with Bear Grills goes and gets dropped off in the middle of no where in the most harsh places in the entire world and has to survive off the land for 5 days and he also has to feed the camera crew so that is extra hard and he teaches the people that are watching tricks to survive off the land if they get stranded some wheres and teaches the watchers what to eat and how to get food and how to make a fire and things like that. Another reason why I am knowledgeable in survival because every summer I go to Hazen Notch, Hazens Notch is a camp that teaches kid how to survive and live off the land and what plants are edible or what isn’t edible. That will help you and the crew because if we ran out of food or supplies I could teach the crew how to get fresh water and food and meat from the resources around us. I am a strong man because I can lift 125 pounds and I can drag 5 tires at once with rope That will help you because if you need something to be carried I could do that for you or if you needed someone to move a heavy object I could do that too and I could help you drag the life boats. Another reason why you should pick me is because I am a skilled woodworker because I have built a shelter that was able to withstand rain and 5 foot of snow and it was water proof. I have also built a shelter that was suitable enough to live in or stay over night in the shelter. That could help you because if you needed shelter I could build a good and warm and if we were staying some where for like a month I could build a shelter that could last about 2 months. That is why you should pick me to go with you on your expedition to Antarctica.
